Just as in life in Hip Hop, struggle is a part of the overall story of success. The struggle builds character and strengthens those on the road to accomplishment. Many artists feel the high of success and many more feel the agony of failure, but all have felt the grueling pain of the struggle. Miami’s own Dirt Bag exemplifies the struggle and has experienced the highs and lows of the Hip Hop industry and life in general.
KeepItTrill.com: Introduce yourself for the people that don’t already know who you are.
DirtBag: Its ya boy DirtBag. The Don of Dade. Making that paper, shittin on haters. Making that down south music, ya feel me. Its speaks for its self ya feel me.
KeepItTrill.com: I know you’ve been in the game since the late 90’s, But I first heard you featuring on Monica’s song “Set it Off” and on the song “Keep It Doing It” with Mystikal and Busta Rhymes about five or six years ago. How did you manage to get on such strong singles? And how did being on those singles help to set up your career?
DirtBag: Just the right place and right time with Monica. I got up with Mystikal and Busta in the studio and Chris Lighty helped put that together. It gave me a nice boost and I appreciate working with those artists.
KeepItTrill.com: On this website we keep it Trill. People know you in these streets and I’ve never really heard your name associated with beef until earlier this year. Can you tell the world when the beef started between you Rick Ross, Cool & Dre, Plies, DJ Khaled and Poe Boy?
DirtBag: I ain’t got no beef with Poe Boy, personally. Ross is no longer with them. So I lashed out because of the association. All the anger came with that. So I got word that he’s no longer with them. So it ain’t no problems with them. Now with Khaled and Dre and them it is what it is. The thing with plies it got to the point where you say u real but I know u not. Ross and I have been involved in this shit. It all started with the disrespect and that’s what started the whole beef. Just the disrespect. All those that didn’t keep it real, its back lash. It’s payback time.

KeepItTrill.com: There were rumors of you and Jacki-O collaborating on a mixtape together. Is there any truth to that?
DirtBag: It’s true but it’s on pause for now. We both got things that we working on. So we put it on pause.
KeepItTrill.com: What’s your thought process as far as possible repercussion for beefing with some of the hottest artists in your city and state? Is there any fear of getting black balled? And how do the people of Miami and fellow artists feel about your latest beef?
DirtBag: As far as black balling, it does happen. Its been backlash but I’m too talented for all that. I’m just putting the truth out and it’s really a personal vendetta that is getting handled by pulling these niggas cards.
KeepItTrill.com: Wow…Lets shift gears a bit lets talk about your music you been around a minute now. What projects have you been working on? What is your current label situation?
DirtBag: Right now I’m independent; we got things working out for this summer. I’m in the streets and I’m all over the internet. I got a project called ‘old school DirtBag vs. new school DirtBag’ and I have a single called ‘Animal’ that will be out by May.

KeepItTrill.com: Do you have any advice for up and coming artists that want to pursue a career in the hip-hop industry?
DirtBag: Always invest in yourself, any money you get put it right back into your self. Promote your own music; don’t worry about being on a label do as much as you can for your self.
