Miami, FL: Home of the pretty beaches, beautiful women, historic sport franchises, and birthplace of many musical talents. It is the city where dreams often originate from the pavement of the streets and also where the boulevard of broken dreams create mayhem and tragedy for those seeking to enjoy the promises of such a beautiful city. The city where Muhammad Ali fought Sonny Liston, where the story of ‘Scarface’ resonates deeply with the struggle, where the Mariel Boatlift of 1980 flooded the streets of Miami with Cuban immigrants that felt the wrath of Dictator Fidel Castro, where Haitian immigrants have taken the most dangerous voyages in shark infested waters to start a new life, where the drug trade during the 1980’s and 1990’s helped to fuel a city’s growing economy and drug wars, eventually branding it the “Cocaine City”.

It is extremely important to understand the history of the city of Miami and what has been pumping in its veins for all of these years. To truly understand that is to understand the background of its Hip Hop artists. Just about 10 years deep in the game, Miami native Jacki-O remains a significant force in the industry while repping her city just as hard. From her signing with Poe Boy Entertainment in 2000 to her release of the smash hit “Nookie” just a couple of years later, she has experienced great success and endured the hardships of the industry. Jacki-O joins us today and she has no problems keeping it trill.

KeepItTrill.com: Introduce yourself for the people that don’t already know who you are.

Jacki: Jacki-O or Madam of Miami.

KeepItTrill.com: I’ve been a fan of your music for quite sometime. I’ve witnessed the support from your fans and your grind from the ground up. What makes you different from any other MC in the game, male or female?

Jacki: My resistance… My ability to endure… and the fact that i’m really good at what I do [laugh]

KeepItTrill.com: So keep it Trill, how much harder is it for female MCs than for males to get in the industry and stay relevant?

Jacki: We as females have been dependent lately. Back in the day you would have never seen Queen Latifah waiting for help in the industry, and that’s why she’s had so much success. Now, women rely on men a lot and use them as crutches. I feel we can do a lot of the things we depend on probably A LOT better and faster.

KeepItTrill.com: So what projects have you been working on? What is your current label situation?

Jacki: Jackmove Ent. is my own label and i’ve been able to put out my album independently. Lil Red Riding Hood is in stores now. I’m also currently releasing my new mixtape B.B.B.P.

KeepItTrill.com: What caused the rift between you and Poe Boy? What made you decide that you wanted to part ways from the label?

Jacki: Time brings  change and growth. I decided it was best for me to leave.

KeepItTrill.com: On this website we keep it Trill. I want to ask you about the beef that your name has been mentioned in. Is that cool?

Jacki: Beef is a very good marketing tool. Notoriety of any sort brings power. It’s better to be slandered and attacked than ignored. Next question.

KeepItTrill.com: I’ve heard diss tracks traded back and forth between you and Khia, I heard about the altercation with you and Foxy Brown, I saw the ‘F*** Khia’ shirts at the first Ozone Awards Show in Orlando, FL. I even heard Rick Ross diss you and Dirt Bag on a song. There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding your career, how does the beef come about in the first place?

Jacki: Well, actually that award show was in Miami. First thing aspiring artists should know how to do is attract attention and have constant vigilance.

KeepItTrill.com: Being that you knew Rick Ross and Brisco for so long, what caused the rift between you all? Is there still beef between you and them?

Jacki: Well, a lot of people are on their defense. When i’m just a female doin my thing in a male dominated arena, what’s the point of trying to chase my dreams and defeating my enemies if I don’t feel in control? I don’t need to react at this time. Agressive action is not effective action. My ability to keep men on their defense means I have control and power… ;-)

KeepItTrill.com: Wow…Lets shift gears a bit to the great music that you’ve been creating lately. I heard “Take Me Higher” & “Baby Mama” from your new album. I’m really feeling those songs. How did those songs come together?

Jacki: Baby Mama was just a street tester. I love it ’cause it’s a fun record. “Take Me Higher” is a record that I did with Kymani Marley, whom is a very talented artist and the song is very inspirational and motivating.

KeepItTrill.com: Who are some of the producers you have been working with on your new project?

Jacki: Believe it or not, I’ve decided to take it back to the streets and get really talented producers that have that raw sound. Ole E from Trap Tracks did my newest single called “My Dawg.” Helluva from Detroit, Zaytoven produced a track I did with Gucci and Rich Boy. Producers from Miami Bangah, Freedom and Tobias…A Miami producer named Dean and also Tony Kelley and 2Saint, just to name a few.

KeepItTrill.com: Do you have any advice for up and coming female artists that want to pursue a career in the hip-hop industry?

Jacki: Do your research before you sign! Learn pro-tools so you can engineer yourself and get a lawyer.

KeepItTrill.com: How would the fans get in contact with you, if they wanted to listen to new music or even book you?

Jacki: JACKMOVE305@GMAIL.COM, JACKI-O/FACEBOOK JACKIO-O ON TWITTER AND WWW.MYSPACE.COM/JACKIOMUSIC

KeepItTrill.com: Thank you for providing KeepItTrill.com with this exclusive interview; do you have any last words for your present and future fans?

Jacki: MUUUUUAH!
