On October 27th, in New York City, Kid Cudi offered a preview of his Rock album, “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.“ The rapper reveals he will be taking some time off for Hip-Hop in order to focus on his recently formed Rock band.
In a recent interview with MTV, Cudi expressed being “bored with rap and the typical format of a rapper doing a three-verse song.“ As a result, Cudi, alongside producer Dot Da Genius, formed a Rock band by the name of Wizard.
“I don’t get any fulfillment out of it anymore. I don’t get fulfillment out of writing a 16. That’s why you don’t ever hear me on Kanye joints like that,” Cudi explained. “I’m more passionate when he’s like, ‘yo Cudi, come up with a hook.’ Cause he asks me to put verses down but I’ll try to procrastinate or disappear or something.”
Furthermore, Cudi explains that he wishes to focus on his singing, which can be heard on his on guitar-heavy single “Erase Me.” Within the video, he impersonates the legendary Jimi Hendrix.
“I just really get more fulfillment out of singing now,” he said. “I’m teaching myself the guitar, that’s my new found love. I never thought that I could play an instrument. Picked it up, surprised myself. It’s been two and a half months, I’m already starting my next project. It’s a rock album, I’m doing a band with [producer]Dot [da Genius]called Wizard.”
“Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager,” is scheduled to release November 9th.
