Mashonda Talks Aftermath of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys Scandal During Reality Show
Mashonda is bent on telling her side of what life is like in the aftermath of her ex-husband, Swizz Beatz, taking up with “the homewrecker,” Alicia Keys.
The media has been speculating — with some help from her twitter rants — about the impact the split has had on the aspiring singer, but she feels she needs a platform to show just how resilient she is. She’s teamed up with two other hip-hop wives (they’re really girlfriends, but we know how that works now), Fabolous and Jim Jones’ love interests, Kimberly Bustamante and Christine “Chrissy” Lampkin to demonstrate her continued fabulosity. Similar to “Basketball Wives” and “Football Wives,” their show, “Love & Hip-Hop” will air on VH1.
“The show is about strength and womanhood. I’m excited about the show and the women on it,” said Mashonda about the production that’s sure to be similar to BET’s “Tiny & Toya” which featured the wives of T.I. and Lil Wayne.
Mashonda’s name wasn’t widely known prior to the revelation of the love triangle between she, Swizzy and Alicia Keys, but it remains to be seen whether the scandal will be the show’s focal point — or even if the child she has with Beatz will make appearances. She’s supposedly mended fences with Keys and has invited her ex-husband’s new child, Egypt, into her life, but the situation may be too fragile for the ensuing publicity from reality television.
“Love & Hip Hop” is scheduled to air March 21.
