Layzie Bone Clarifies Alleged Disses To President Obama

Layzie Bone managed to stir up some controversy with a recently leaked track, which seems to direct polemical remarks towards President Obama and his policies regarding the prison system.
On the track, “Doin’ Life,” from the mix-tape “Thug Luv,” Layzie raps: “I been lookin at the world from a whole ‘nother angle, since you’ve been gone/ seein’ how penitentiary’s a big business and the President doin’ us wrong.”
Though his verse comes off as possible verbal attack at, during an interview with HipHopDX, Layzie pointed out that if one had paid attention to when the mix-tape initially released, it would appear the verse was directed at former President George Bush, not President Obama.
“I gave [the Thug Luv] to Siccness.net like five years ago, when my brother [Flesh-N-Bone] was locked up. It’s really not enough being done to rehabilitate people coming out,” Layzie explained. “Obama wasn’t even in office yet. That was directed towards the Bush administration. Flat out.”
When questioned about Hip-Hop’s seemingly “fight the power” message, combined with the potential conflict over the election of a black president, Layzie shared: “I think we should support any ‘first black’ situation, because he did open up the door for a lot of our issues to be heard that wasn’t heard. Of course, I support him all day. As long as he ain’t doing no Bush sh**. I see more good than I see anything wrong he doing.”
Layzie’s albums “The Definition” and “The Meaning,” are expected to be available in-store February 22nd.
