Lil Wayne’s 2010 Rebirth album wasn’t a failure, certified gold with over 500,000 copies sold, but it definitely wasn’t the smash that his Carter III project was, and it may have been because of how rock-infused it was.

But, Weezy isn’t walking away from his rock inspiration yet. The rap superstar recently lent his services to popular late-90s rockband, Limp Bizkit, who are in the studio working on a brand new album.

The band has been collaborating with artists in hip-hop since their 1999 sophomore album, Significant Other, where frontman Fred Durst spit alongside Method Man over a DJ Premier beat. Then, the following album featured the likes of Xzibit, Redman and Swizz Beatz.

Now, Weezy is next up to bat, which Durst revealed in a recent Twitter update.

“Oh, excuse me,” tweeted Durst (@FredDurst). “16th song mixed is ‘Ready To Go’ featuring Lil Wayne! I love it.”

According to TheBoomBox.com, rumors of a collabo between Limp Bizkit and Wayne have been circulating since 2009, and may have been recorded during the studio sessions for Rebirth. But, details regarding the record are still unknown.

In addition to Weezy, rap vet Raekwon is also expected to appear on the band’s record, reportedly titled Gold Cobra.

At press time, there was no release date for the album.
