Luther Campbell, a prominent pioneer of Rap, appeared on CNN today, to discuss his campaign to become Mayor of Dade County, Miami.

Campbell, who has raised $10,000 for his mayoral campaign , and recently revealed his new campaign slogan “I’m Dead Serious,“ feels that his long-time commitment to the Miami community makes him the most suitable candidate for Mayor.

“When I look at the other ten candidates, I see that I need to be the person to run for mayor to represent my city,” Luther Campbell told CNN, stating furthermore that he hopes to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana, and tackle other “big ticket” issues.

“We have Jackson Hospital. They are trying to privatize and sell,” Luther Campbell said. “At the same time, the government has taken over the housing department here in our county. They have taken over the Transit Department who is missing over $180,000.”

Campbell happens to write a column for the Miami New Times Newspaper, and has been accounting his run in the mayoral race via the publication.

“It’s not a publicity stunt under any circumstances,” Luke said. “People who know me know that I have been working very hard in my community throughout the years.”

Campbell, age 50, appears to have put his days as a member of 2 Live Crew behind him, despite the fact that his fans still come across his X-rated videos distributed on the Internet. Campbell claims he no longer owns the rights to such content.

“I don’t own any websites that have raunchy videos,” Luke said, claiming the dirty videos were owned by Lil Joe Records. “I had my days having fun as a youngster, as a rapper, but at the same time I’m a freedom fighter,” Luke said.
