Apple Reveals iPhone 4S With Droid-Like Features
Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S, a thinner glass and steel model of the iPhone 4.
The phone was released during Apple’s presentation this afternoon in Cupertino, CA ahead of the iPhone 5 and is being touted as a gaming device thanks to its up to 7x faster graphics than previous iPhone, dual core graphics and the A5 chip inside, which was designed by Apple.
The chip is the same as the one found in the iPad 2. Battery power has been sacrificed, but you can talk up to 8 hours on the 4S via 3G, 16 hours on 2G.
The wireless system for the phone has been updated, antenna issues have been eliminated (there are two) and data download speed has increased to 2X faster than what competitors call 4G speeds, said Apple during its presentation at its headquarters.
The iPhone 4S is a world phone with both GSM and CDMA connections/networks. If you travel, you can roam on other networks overseas while still using CDMA at home in the U.S. A new camera has been created: It now has a 8 megapixel sensor, packing 60 percent more pixels than the previous iPhone 4.
Additionally, the capture speed of the camera is 73 percent faster than the previous version. Furthermore, you can record 1080p on the phone!
One of the unexpected features of the new software for the iPhone 4S is aritificial intelligence via a software program called Siri which will allow users to use their phones to communicate with machines and gather information.
Unveiled years ago, the program is based on voice recognition technology carrying out functions that ordinarily attributed to tactical use: looking up a number, searching for a website, transcribing text and so on.
The gem of the program is this: it will learn your habits as you use it. Applied to the iPhone, it may revolutionize technology.
The iPhone 4s will be available via 100 carriers in 70 countries, the largest roll out ever! Expect pre-orders to begin Friday and it will go sale on October 14. Those who are on Sprint: (In our Oprah Voice: YOU GET AN IPHONE 4S!!) As do AT&T and Verizon. No T-mobile though.
The Price: $199.00 for a 16G, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB. It will be available in black and white.
