RZA Says Hip-Hop Producers Make The Best Headphones
The Wu-Tang Swordsman recently offered up his opinion on the craze for headphone lines launched by rappers and producers.
RZA released his own Chambers headphone brand earlier in the week, in partnership with the WeSC accessories company. The Wu-Tang founder follows in the footsteps of Dr. Dre, Diddy, Ludacris, and 50 Cent, who have all been involved in developing and launching their own headphone lines.
Speaking to Billboard.com last week, RZA suggested that the number of headphones sold may be the new record to beat in the Hip-Hop game. He was also anxious to stress that rap producers were likely to create the best quality products, given the nature of their work.
“I don’t like to compete against my own crew, meaning, Hip Hop,” he said. “But you do want to sell the most records, have the biggest song and win the Grammy. With much respect to the other guys, [Dr.] Dre is a producer and I’m a producer,” he added.
“If anyone is into sound and dealing with sound, it’s more the producer than a rapper. We get more technical.”
As well as his recent headphones venture, RZA has executive produced a few projects, and made forays in the worlds of fashion and film.
