Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith Headed For Divorce?
Rumors abound across the Internet this morning (January 11) of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s impending divorce. Will, 43, and Jada, 40, apparently cannot see eye-to-eye on how to best manage the careers of their children Jaden and Willow along with other personal issues.
Both children have enjoyed success of sorts in major movies and music. Jaden had a huge box-office hit with The Karate Kid in 2010, while Willow recorded the hit Whip My Hair and continues to grace fashion blogs and magazines with her offbeat funky style.
In Touch Weekly reported that Jada Smith recently met with celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented the likes of Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, and Kim Kardashian.
Rumors of discord between the power couple began to surface last year. In August, the couple put out a joint statement saying, “Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”
The Smiths, long viewed as one of the country’s few African-American power couples, married in 1997 and have been one of a few shining examples of relationships to come out of Hollywood. Will has always said that ‘divorce is not an option’.
In 2008, he told Ellen Degeneres, “What I found is divorce just can’t be an option. It’s really that simple. And I think that’s the problem with L.A. — there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for Jada and I is that we just removed the other options.”
The rumors so far are unsubstantiated. Neither star’s publicists have responded to messages for confirmation.
