Will Dwight Howard Become A Dallas Maverick?
By: @CodyMack94
It’s on everyone’s mind; where will Dwight Howard take his talents? He’s got his own list of teams he wants to go to, including the Nets, Lakers, and Mavericks. I’ll list them in order of least likely to most:
New Jersey Nets – This just won’t happen. Actually it can’t happen. The Nets don’t have the pieces to trade for Howard and their own Star, Deron Williams, doesn’t even want to be there anymore. The possibility of losing their own good player certainly isn’t going to get Dwight to want to go. The only limelight that the Nets have to get big names is the pending move to Brooklyn.
Los Angeles Lakers – This seemed to be more likely before the season started. While it’s still more likely than the Nets, this probably won’t happen via trade. A potential trade would have involved Andrew Bynum, but since his return, he’s been one of the best centers in the NBA. A good possibility is through free agency. Los Angeles is a place of interest to every free agent, which keeps the Lakers contenders every year.
Dallas Mavericks – First off, there is no way that the Mavericks can trade for Dwight Howard. They don’t have any trade pieces that would entice the Magic to make the trade. The reason I think the Mavericks have the best chance to get Dwight Howard is from the Owner of the Magic. He doesn’t want to trade Dwight Howard, and wants to ride out the season to see if they can keep Howard in Orlando. Obviously he could change his mind in the next month before the trade deadline, but if Dwight Howard is in Orlando after March 15th (Trade Deadline), you can bet on it that Howard will be in Dallas next season, maybe with his friend Deron Williams.

im sorry but you are out of your mind if you think dallas is most likely to land dwight because orlando says wants to keep him. of course they want to keep him but they are not going to take the chance on letting another prized big man walk for nothing unless they get his word that he will stay. nobody ever tips their hand until deals are done, for logical reasons thats just the way it is. lamar odom will tell you that as he would still be a laker if the media bigmouths didnt let the cat out of the bag. there is just about zero chance of him leaving orlando in free agency(i cant imagine him not being very clear about his decision as he wont want them to get nothing in return) and dallas nor nj have the pieces to trade without a very complex multi team trade and cuban has been stuck on this dwight free agency idea for a while now(and he calls other people morons lol). i would put nj ahead of dallas for sure because he wants to be there for some stupid reason and a trade with them is much more likely than dallas as thats all but impossible. like i said he will not be leaving as a fa.
dwight will likely go to either the lakers or another team via trade and the lakers have the only even considerable replacement in the league with bynum as well as a history of getting the bigs they want. if vegas books were taking bets, the odds would be between the lakers and orlando.
