Nicki Minaj Tops Sales Charts With 251k Albums Sold First Week
Nicki Minaj has done quite a bit in her career since her debut album released to 375k copies, so many expected with her rise to pop stardom she had this album in the bag. According to a interview she did last week with with DJ Clue she thought so too telling him this album would sell so much more than Pink Friday and she wasn’t concerned about the sophomore jinx. Pink Friday: Romans Reloaded indeed landed at the top spot for the week, but she has some ground to make up only selling 251k copies – over 100k less than her debut.
Can she make this it up over a period of time? Time will tell, and I’m positive she’ll gloss it over as if she doesn’t care, but I’m willing to bet she fully expected to sell more opening week. Disappointing week for the Universal camp, as we reported earlier today Madonna only came in with 46k setting a record for the largest drop (88%) in sales between week 1 and week 2.
