Waka Flocka Flame Covers Spin’s May/June Issue
25-year-old Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame will cover Spin’s May/June issue. It will be Spin’s first ever “Loud” issue, marking a career milestone for Waka. The Spin staff commented on the decision to put Waka on the cover, stating that he “couldn’t-be-more-perfect face of our first-ever Loud Issue, dedicated to all things enjoyably and compellingly disruptive.” Waka also has a certain feature that Spin wanted to pin down for the issue’s cover,” explaining, “he’s a character at a moment when that quality seems at a premium.”
Waka shows his acting skills in a surprisingly entertaining video short for Spin, where he dreams that he is the editorial director of the magazine. In his office he’s throwing money in the air and at people while his song “I Don’t Really Care” plays, ordering an employee to get him a sandwich and angrily wondering who the f— ate his hummus! In the video Waka also comes up with the idea of doing all of the album reviews by tweeting, which the staff claps and accepts with excitement, until they are told to “Hold the f— up and Tweet!”
Waka Flocka Flame is currently working on his second studio album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, and Family. The album is slated for a June 12 release date with features from artists such as Drake, B.o.B, Tyler, the Creator, Nicki Minaj, and many more.
