Jay-Z Speaks Out To Support President Obama’s Stance On Gay Marriage

Jay-Z is in full support of President Obama’s same-sex marriage stance.

Hov made that clear during a sitdown interview with CNN on Monday (May 14) after announcing that he’ll be the curator and headliner of the Budweiser Made In America music festival during Labor Day Weekend in Philadelphia.

“I mean, I always thought of it as something that’s still holding the country back,” said Hov about certain states still not allowing gay marriage. “What people do in their own homes is their business. You choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against Blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”

When asked if he thought President Obama would lose out on votes to remain Commander-in-Chief due to his support on gay marriage, Jay answered that it’s not about the votes.

“I think it’s the right thing to do, so whether it costs him votes or not, again it’s really not about votes,” Jay responded. “It’s about…people. So, whether it costs him votes or not, I think it’s the right thing to do as a human being.”

There has been a noted mutual respect between Jay-Z and Obama.

In an interview with The Atlantic a couple months back, writer David Samuels asked Obama about who he prefers—Jay-Z or Kanye West—and the Commander-in-Chief gave the nod to Hov, before sarcastically calling Kanye a jackass for the second time in three years.

The Pres has previously praised Jay-Z, saying he listens to the rapper’s music on his iPod. Jay’s wife, Beyoncé, recently even attended an Obama fundraider with First Lady Michelle Obama in New York City in March.
