Why I Don’t Support President Obama For Re-Election (By @TrillChris)
Written by @TrillChris
In our hip-hop community, there seems to be a heard-like mentality to support President Obama. I’m not sure if it’s racially motivated or if it’s the grip that the democrat party has on those of us in the hip-hop world.
Those of you who are frequent visitors of this site have already found out on many occasions that I do not support President Obama any longer. What some of those people don’t seem to understand though is I’m not anti-Obama because i’m an angry FOX News watching nut job who simply opposes Obama for being black or a democrat. I don’t care about any of those things and people who know me would, or should, know that. I’m anti-Obama because he lies just as much as any other politician and has failed me, and millions of others, on why he was voted into office.
These are the specific failures of President Obama for why I don’t support him any longer:
He promised to cut the deficit in half: he tripled it. Not to mention he promoted people like Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernake into higher positions of power, two people who were warned about the financial collapse and housing market bubble burst but ignored it and encouraged the behavior that brought on our economic collapse. Let’s not even go into the bailouts that slowed our economic recovery, which rewarded banksters with bonuses from OUR tax money, thus resulting in a higher debt and more inflation.
He promised to close guantanemo bay : it ramains open.
He promised to get rid of Bush’s patriot act : He renewed it.
He promised to end war(s):
- 10k troops remain in Iraq maintaining the world’s largest military base (even though we “withdrew” our forces)
- He has commited to staying in Afghanistan through 2024 (even though he set a 2014 deadline withdrawal)
- He sought U.N. approval NOT congressional approval for military actions in Libya (unconstitutional & illegal – just like Bush.)
But hey, he won the nobel peace prize, right!?
He claims to have been a constitutional law professor, but questions the U.S. supreme courts authority when they decided to look at the constitutionality of the health care bill…. Really?
He passed the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) which is an executive order that gives the president the right to detain or assassinate American citizens without due process.
Last but not least, he openly admitted in his first campaign that if he didn’t turn things around in our country, he wouldn’t mind being a one term president. Well, now that he’s had a taste of power and failed, that obviously isn’t the case any more. He seems to have been stuck in campaign mode ever since he took office.
These are all mostly the same reasons why I also do not support Mitt Romney. He either once supported or still supports most of these same ideals.
Congressman Dr. Ron Paul was very vocal AGAINST every single one of these issues, often years before they happened. He predicted the entire crap storm we are in now, but people ignored him… and people are STILL ignoring him. People forget that we are AMERICANS before we are Democrats or Republicans. People get too caught up in partisan politics to open their eyes and see the corrupt one-party government that has been bestowed upon us. I am realizing all of this for the first time so I am passionate and I AM getting involved, while people write me off and ignore me…
How am I so sure?
I have done more research on President Obama and the other candidates than I care to admit. Luckily, I am self employed, make my own schedule and do not have kids or a family to take care of, so I have time to become “involved”. Jobs and families are often things that leave people to get their information from what’s happening in the country from one source: the mainstream media. More specifically, biased organizations like MSNBC, FOX, CNN, etc. Sadly, these sources are becoming more and more about entertainment and political bias than real journalism and reporting. While CNN is one of the best out there, they still have their faults. The average person simply doesn’t have the free time that I have to look at other sources to compare and is simply not aware, or doesn’t care. This often leaves people with one side of the story: Republican or Democrat… and neither side is ever 100% right.
Yes, I watch FOX, CNN & MSNBC too, but it doesn’t stop there. I also go to BBC, Al Jazeera English, Daily Mail, Washington Post, New York Post and even some fringe sites like the Drudge Report, Media Matters or Infowars. And it doesn’t stop there. I try to get all sides of a story from different cultural and ideological perspectives from around the world, as well as fact check and filter through the propaganda, lies, conspiracies and other nonsense that is thrown out there or exaggerated.
At the end of the day, i’m often appalled, angry, agitated, discouraged or a little bit of everything with what I learn, but the fact is that i’m learning. I’m not going to allow myself to become one more sheep in a heard.

Thanks for posting this Chris. Open your eyes everyone because this is the truth…
ITS ONLY BEEN 4 YEARS CALM DOWN – CAN U DO BETTER -HE HAD ALOT TO CLEAN UP WHEN HE CAME IN – THIS DUDE GOT 50 STATES IN OUTSIDE THE STATES TO DEAL WITH.
I’m sorry, but did you read the article or just comment after reading the title? He did things that didn’t need to be done and went against the grain of what he campaigned for…. Signing the NDAA and renewing the patriot act were ALL him…. and everything else. There is no way you read the article.
Take the Daily Mail, New York Post and Drudge Report, they are right wing hell holes. Hell, no one in the U.K. takes the Daily Mail seriously (lived there and yes, people consider it a joke paper from Murdoch). The other two are just racist pieces of trash.
I don’t think any of the candidates are telling the whole truth. Ron Paul has been in congress for decades, but he hasn’t really accomplished anything of substance other than being against things. That’s all well and good, but actions speak louder than words, and Ron Paul hasn’t accomplished anything he has set out to do. That, and he has been in congress for decades, and I find it a bit hard to believe that he is the one and only honest person in Washington, because no one stays there long without getting their hands dirty.
Romney was a corporate raider in the 80′s, so he made his money by gutting companies and firing people. Obama surrounded himself with too many traditional insiders and lacked support from congress (thank you very much Pelosi).
I wouldn’t also go around calling others sheep when your news sources are all corporate or state owned, with the exception of Infowars, which is bat shit insane conspiracy fodder.
Those were just examples and are not the only sources I get information from. I agree that infowars is crazy, which is why i mentioned them as a “fringe” site, but they DO have certain things every so often that are legitimate. Thank you for reading the post though. As far as Ron Paul’s accomplishments, it’s hard to get anything accomplished in congress without a majority vote…. and people are just now coming around to his ideas after decades… I.E. auditing the fed. He also expressed vocal concern to congress over many things over his decades of work and even predicted things like 9/11, the financial collapse and the housing bubble burst years before they all happened and it was all recorded by C-SPAN and can be found on YouTube… Because he was ignored and unable to do anything is not his fault…. His ideas are what started the Tea Party movement – before it was hijacked by fox news and turned into a corporate backed movement… Now they have gone off track from their original base and attracted crazies & neo-cons to the group.
BTW, why are you always using different names and different e-mail addresses to leave your comments?
We NEED TO re-elect President Obama for many reasons. Read my web page at www.mybetteramericaplan.com to see them. President Obama has done a lot of good for America. President Obama has SAVED America from a Republican CAUSED Depression and is pulling America out of this Republican CAUSED Recession. It takes time but SOON America will be out of this Recession. Mitt Romney and the Republicans will destroy America AGAIN because they WILL extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich as well as cut other taxes for the rich. then Romney and the Republicans WILL enact the Ryan Budget Plan. Romney and the Republicans will also unnecessarily increase the military budget to appease and enrich themselves and their buddies in the military industrial complex. Then Romney and the Republicans will cut or gut as many regulations and environmental laws as possible and make abortions illegal while also doing their best to end Planned Parenthood. Doing ALL of this will increase the government debt which will lead Romney to cut the budget more which will hurt the middle class and the poor more.
Ron, are you kidding? Mitt Romney is Obama-lite. The only thing they differ on is social issues if you actually look at their records. Learn about Austrian economics and then you will see that the path Republicans and Democrats are on are both wrong. They practice the Keynesian school of thought, which is what led to the bubble building & bursting, along with the inflation & devaluation of the dollar. Government manipulation in the market is what is the biggest thing wrong with our economy…. and rewarding those companies who scammed people with bad bets on derivative trading with a bail out is absurd! Yet it’s the keynesian way! Mitt Romney AND Obama both supported this… Ever wonder why Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Bank Of America all donate very large sums to both of these candidates? Fyi, each of these banks donated even MORE to Obama than Romney…
