Sometimes an unexpected remix can catapult a burgeoning rapper into a whole other stratosphere of fame. Even if he or she never even shared a convo with the mix master.

For Chi-town’s Chief Keef, the knocking remix of his street anthem “I Don’t Like” came from the likes of Kanye West. Many assumed the teen was there for every step of the way but in an exclusive interview with VIBE.com, the newly signed Interscope rapper says their communication was virtually non-existent.

“I didn’t have the chance to talk to anyone at G.O.O.D. Music,” Keef tells VIBE. “It was just a remix and that was it. It wasn’t no words said or none of that.”

The monster remix, which also features Kanye, Big Sean, Pusha T and Jadakiss, undoubtedly put Chief in front of thousands of new fans but it didn’t come easily.

“I even had to wait for my own song, like three weeks,” Keef continues. “But it’s all good. I fuck with Kanye. It ain’t never no hard feelings.”

Currently, Chief Keef is working on an upcoming mixtape. Stay tuned for more details.
