Twitter was in a frenzy about Nicki Minaj kissing Nas in her “Right By My Side” music video, and many have been interested hear how the idea came up.

Nicki Minaj opened to radio host Tim Westwood about her romantic scenes with fellow Queens-born rapper Nas in her recent video for the single “Right By My Side.” Minaj revealed just how much the moment meant to her and why she was happy the chemistry between she and her co-star resonated onscreen.

“But you know what, Tim, it worked, Tim,” Minaj told Westwood. “It was like, hip-hop, it was just, errrrrrrr. Yes. Queens. Royalty. Yeah, I was like, ‘What!? Yeah!’ You know what it was though? Outside of the kiss, it just had so much chemistry. It seemed like a real relationship, like just a real hood relationship and I wanted to portray that. I wanted the song to feel like your around the way relationship because there’s so much love in that. So much passion is there.”
