The World Series of Poker is considered the Granddaddy of all poker events, drawing tens of thousands of players to Las Vegas annually, in pursuit of Millions in prize money and the WSOP championship bracelet. In recent years, the event has attracted not just run of the mill poker players but also celebrity players as well. Among those are stars you will see at the 2012 WSOP are of the rap world.

Nelly is easily one of the most famous rappers to attend the World Series of Poker. He caught the poker bug back in 2007 when he won a tournament at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. Since then he has been a regular in Vegas and has played in multiple WSOP tournaments. He made Day 2 of the event in 2010 and while he outlasted thousands of players, he failed to win the money. Another big name in the world of Rap that you will likely see at the WSOP is Kool Shen. Formerly of Supreme NTM, Kool Shen is considered one of the original founding fathers of French Rap. He’s been playing in events all over the world since 2008 and has actually amassed quite a record in the game. Having won $364,000 in poker events around the world, Kool Shen is almost a lock to show up for the $10,000 WSOP Main Event if not other bracelet events.

Poker has attracted players from all walks of life as the qualities needed to be successful in the game are the same that are required to be successful in other fields. The great thing about the WSOP is that anyone with the money to enter can do so and try their hand at becoming a world champion. No other game or sport gives players that opportunity and that is why you will see rappers and others continue to battle for the WSOP bracelet with the pros of the poker world for years to come.
