Slim Thug Explains Reason Behind ‘How to Survive in a Recession’ Book

2 August 2012 269 views No Comment

It’s become commonplace to read headlines about rappers owing the IRS or in other types of financial problems.

It’s part of the very reason why Slim Thug penned his book, How to Survive in a Recession, which was released two weeks back on July 21.

The Houston rapper recently spoke about the inspiration behind the book and why he wanted to put out the message of financial literacy to the masses.

“Some people are riding around in a Benz, but die and don’t even have enough money to be buried,” he said on Houston’s 97.9 The Box’s Mad Hatta Morning Show. “That may sound like a harsh statement to many, but it is true for so many more. You need to feel like you are committing a crime once you go in your cash.”

When asked by Houston’s KHOU, in a separate interview, about the common mistakes that people who fall into new money make, Slim offered:

“Forget that they have to pay taxes and what the check says isn’t really what they have. I myself am even guilty of rapping about spending money in careless ways.”
